Military Community

St. George’s is a warm and welcoming school who puts pupil well being at the heart of everything they do.

“St George’s Catholic Primary is a nurturing school. Pupils are proud of their school and they feel looked after and cared for. They are happy and feel safe because of the good relationships between staff and pupils. Pupils enjoy taking on areas of responsibility such as house-captains, play-leaders, school council and eco-group members.” [Ofsted 2020]

The headteacher, Mrs Kate Saunders, comes from a service background and is very aware and sympathetic to the challenges that service children face. We warmly welcome military families into the school and have experience of supporting them at difficult times. We have ELSA assistants and a Family Support Worker in the school who are able to support children and families either on a 1:1 or group basis.

We are always happy to show parents and their children around the school.  We usually use our Year 6 School Leaders to conduct the tour as we find this gives useful information from a child’s perspective. There is then an opportunity to chat with the headteacher and ask any remaining questions that you have. It is also possible to arrange taster sessions at the school.

The school aims to make children’s transitions into our school as smooth as possible. If there is any other information that would be useful, please don’t hesitate to let us know.
